The FENCE Project
Saturday, June 28, 2014 7:30 AM to Sunday, June 29, 2014, 3:00 PM
We are tearing down a fence and building a new one for a local elderly resident who has suffered the paralyzing effects of brain tumor removal. Mrs. Ferguson’s home has fallen into disrepair, and we are collaborating with her neighbors to replace a falling fence, in order to make her property safe and avoid fines from code enforcement.
We will meet both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Saturday will involve removal of brush and old fence, digging of new post holes, and setting of new posts. Sunday, we will finish up the project by installing new fence sections.
We must raise $1000 to cover the cost of the materials, and receipts for a tax deductible donations can be provided. Donations toward this effort can be made with credit card or through PayPal. See the yellow Donate button below.
People can choose when and how they participate in this effort, and we ask that people sign up to participate for at least 3 hours. Please indicate in the comment section of your RSVP what day and a 3 hour time period you will be there to work. We will most likely be ending the day’s work around 3 pm both days (or maybe earlier). However, we will need to stay until the job is done!
Cold water, lemonade, and snacks will be provided. Volunteers should bring along their preferred insect repellent and sunscreen. While it is advised that people wear protective clothing, please remember that it will be HOT! So dress cool, and wear hard or thick sole shoes or boots. If you have WORK GLOVES, bring them also.
We will also need the following tools for use during the project. If you can bring one of these with you, please indicate it in your RSVP on the Meetup Page
- POST HOLE DIGGER
- WHEEL BARROWS/HAND TRUCKS
- SHOVELS, RAKES, HOES
- LIMB CUTTERS/TRIMMERS
